Akshay and Kareena promotes Kambakht Ishq

Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer film Kambakht Ishq is one of the most awaited flicks of the year. And both Aki and Bebo is leaving no stones unturned to promote the film. Yesterday, the cast and crew along with Hungama digital media held a press conference where the duo spoke at length about their respective characters.

“I am getting withdrawal symptoms. Its been 2 whole months since I’ve seen a film in theatres”, laments my friend. Truth be told the whole country is echoing the same sentiment “we want to watch movies in a theatre”. Never has this country witnessed such a long “break” in films releasing, at least not in the last 25 years. The bone of contention? United producers and Distributors forum (UPDF) want it their way and multiplexes theirs. Over a period of 2 months there have been several rounds of discussions between the two parties but each time, emotions have managed to outwit reason. Kinda filmy don’t you think?

Hollywood bigwigs descending on India

According to reports, Oscar winner Ben Kingsley is a math professor in “Teen Patti” (Three Cards), a Bollywood thriller set in India and England against a backdrop of high-stakes gambling, with superstar Amitabh Bachchan, premiering in August. Another Oscar winner Kate Winslet is reportedly being sought to play Dr. Sophie with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan in an India-partition themed drama. In Bollywood romantic comedy “Kambakht Ishq” (Unfortunate Love) releasing on May 28, nine Hollywood actors, including Oscar nominated Sylvester Stallone, are reportedly participating.

Akshay Kumar: Akshay Kumar is perhaps the most reliable or ‘saleable’ actor in Hindi filmdom today along with Shah Rukh Khan with practically all his films over the last few years being hugely successfully at the box office. What’s more he has developed from an action hero in B–movies to a reasonably fine actor, in particular, displaying impeccable sense of comic timing in films like Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhaag (2006) and Heyy Babyy (2007). And like Shah Rukh, he has made it to the top rung of Bollywood without any ‘filmi’ connections whatsoever.
