They’ve finally zeroed in on Gauhar Khan who has been secretly jiving away to Helen’s most popular cabaret ‘Piya tu ab to aaja’ for Luthria’s ‘Once Upon A Time In The West’.
The Item Girl Fixation
While Bollywood has come a long way in its evolution since the turn of the millennium; the decade has certainly belonged to the ubiquitous item number. The Bollywood producer’s version of a crowd-pleaser, item numbers have allowed stuffy film composers an easy entry into the country’s club scene, and have been a stepping-stone to redoubtable success for a plethora of actresses, dancers and what-have-you, all of whom are quite liberal in their skin-show and tag themselves simply as item girls. But while the phenomenon of item numbers may have become a part of the common lexicon in the new millennium, in no way does this imply that the concept is anything new. Indeed, far before some smart cookie coined the term “item number”, dexterous dancers were making their mark and etching their names for posterity on the canvasses of Bollywood, with acting skills to boot. Zeenat Aman ready to steal hearts again with Chura liya!
Remember Zeenat Aman’s super glam look in the song Chura liya from Yaadon Ki Barat? It was a look that she immortalized. So much so that it’s being relived now, and by none other than Zeenie herself! And hey, it’s not just the look but also the strumming of the guitar that is being revisited in the film Dunno Y…. Naa Jaane Kyon directed by Sanjay Sharma, which is her comeback project. Just that in that film she was being pursued and in this one she plays a glam mom. Well, the idea to give her a glam mum look was actor Kapil Sharma’s, who has also written the screenplay for the film. So, Kapil paid a lot of attention to her styling apart from stylist Rehan Shah and photographer Vicky Idnani. That’s not all, Zeenat had to embark on a stringent exercise regime to lose weight for the contemporary and glam role. And, the actress was only apprehensive about it because she has never played the role of a glam mum before.
