It seems strange that the director of this week’s much-acclaimed film Do Dooni Chaar chose to make his directorial debut away from his home-ground the Yashraj banner. The Do Dooni Chaar director Habib Faizal, who has written a number of films for Yashraj Films and proclaims great proximity to Aditya Chopra, strangely chose to make his directorial debut with another producer (Planman Films).
We are all aware about the fact that Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was recently offered a very crucial role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s upcoming movie Ferarri Ki Sawari and the cricketer rejected the offer politely. However, the latest news is that Sachin is so impressed with director Habib Faizal’s movie Do Dooni Chaar that he has reportedly expressed his desire to work with the director.
As ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ shows massive upswing in foot falls with every passing days, it is crytal clear that this delightful gem of a film has seen some very good word-of-mouth and audience appreciation coming its way. Even as ‘aam junta’ is warming up to this Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh starrer, seems like even the big wigs from the world of politics are not being left untouched either. If sources are to be believed, the word about the film reached the ears of Rahul Gandhi, who pronto decided to take time out of his schedule and catch the flick in a Delhi theatre.
‘Do Dooni Chaar’ has sprung a surprise by seeing massive appreciation coming its way. The film opened on (predictably) a low note with barely noticeable collections. However, there was an increase witnessed from Saturday onwards, as the word-of-mouth coupled with fabulous all around reviews reached out to wider audience. Also, the comeback of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh as a couple has been accepted with open arms. Such strong has been debutant writer-director Habib Faisal’s hold on the medium that ‘Do Dooni Chaar’s is even being likened to Hrishikesh Mukherjee brand of cinema. This one is expected to do better with sustained word of mouth.

‘Do Dooni Chaar’ releases on this Friday and the promos, so far, have managed to bring a smile on one’s face. Telling the tale of a middle class family from Delhi, the film’s USP is the coming together of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh on screen after 30 years. In ‘Do Dooni Chaar’, the duo is seen as a couple. While one gets an impression of an out and out fun-outing from the promos , Neetu Singh insists that the film also carries a noble message in a subtle way.
Onlookers in the crowded Lajpat Nagar market in New Delhi were amazed when they realized that none other than Rishi Kapoor was shopping amidst them. To their amusement, the veteran actor wasn’t visiting premium shops and was instead hunting for clothes that carried a dirt cheap price tag on them. Though Delhites were left clueless about the reason behind Rishi Kapoor saving money during shopping, there is a tale attached to this.
Ranbir Kapoor’s latest movie ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ opposite Priyanka Chopra is set to release on September 24. The actor is definitely busy in promoting the movie and is very excited about it. However, the youngster is also in a dilemma because his parents’ movie ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ is also releasing just 15 days after his movie i.e. on October 8.
Veteran star Rishi Kapoor has turned 58 years old today but debutante director Habib Faisal still finds him a hero material. The director has recently signed Rishi in his movie ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ and that too play the lead role.
