Malayalam film to have Tamil music director
The song ‘Kangal Irundaal…’ from Tamil movie Subramanipuram has become very popular even among audiences in Kerala. Composer James Vasanthan, who composed that song, has now been signed on to work in a Malayalam film, Doubles, starring Mammootty and Nadhiya. We’re hoping he recreates the same magic for Doubles too.
Yodha gets a sequel
Super hit film Yodha (1992) is all set to get a sequel. Directed by Santhosh Sivan, the film will star Mohanlal and Jagathy Sreekumar in the lead roles, just like the original. The sequel, Yodha 2, will continue from where the prequel ended and will have Puneet Issar resuming his role as the villain.
Kaana Kanmani slated to release on September 2
The treat for all Malayalam movie buffs this Onam will be Jayaram’s movie, Kaana Kanmani. It has been scheduled to hit theatres on September 2.
Singer Alappuzha Pushpam no more
Singer Alappuzha Pushpam, best known for her song, ‘Anathalayolam Vennatharamada’ in Jeevithanowka, passed away on Thursday in Kochi. She was 82. She was the daughter of renowned theatre personality Sebastian Kunjukunju Bhagavathar.
Mamta down with Fever
Malayalam actress Mamta Mohandas has had to cut short her professional commitments owing to her constant fever. The actress, who has also appeared in several Tamil and Telugu films, had signed on two Malayalam films, but she has been unable to work because of her fever.
In Ghost House Inn: Next Harihar Nagar sequel
The laugh riot, In Harihar Nagar (1990) is about to have its second sequel, four months after the release of its first sequel, To Harihar Nagar (2009). The second sequel is titled In Ghost House Inn and Lal, the director of the original In Harihar Nagar, is set to direct it.
All well with Sukumari
Actress Sukumari is in a stable condition. The veteran Malayalam-Tamil actress, who has been in the industry for more than 60 years and has acted in over 2,000 movies, was admitted to the NIMS hospital, Neyyatinkara, near Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday because of a sudden heart attack.
Total4U case to have Roma as witness
Malayalam actress Roma, who is on the brink of making her Tamil debut in Vanjikottai Vaaliban directed by S.K, Jeeva starring Sakthi, has been roped in as a witness for the financial company Total4U’s controversial financial fraud case. The firm, owned by Sabarinath, was accused of fooling people into depositing crores of rupees with promises of high returns.

The bikini seems to be the latest fad and from Bollywood to Mollywood, actresses seem to be getting into the two-piece swimsuit. Actress Nayantara did it, so did Anushka and Priyamani. So why will Vimala Raman stay far behind? The Tamil-Telugu-Malayalam actress, who was last seen in Telugu film, Evaraina Epudaina, directed by Varun Sandesh, will also be seen in a bikini in her latest Telugu film, Lover Boy.
