1st Star Report Awards is a rocking affair
The 1st Annual Star Report Awards held at Hotel Leela Kempinski, Mumbai on Sunday June 14th was one huge rocking affair. What made this awards function a unique one was that the award felicitations were not just limited to Bollywood and Television personalities but also extended to dignitaries from various other fields and people who have made us feel proud of them.

Organised by Star Report news magazine head honcho, Hardik Hundiya, the event kicked off with Television industry’s most lovable Baa aka Sudha Shivpuri lighting the holy lamp along with few other present VIPs. The first ones to be felicitated were Mrs. Smita and Divya Salaskar, wife and daughter of 26/11 martyr, encounter specialist inspector, Vijay Salaskar. The entire police team who managed to capture terrorist Kasab alive at Girgaum Chowpatty was also specially honoured. Both these felicitations received a standing ovation.
TV Serial Bidaai girl Parul Chauhan was awarded the Star Kala Ratna Award which she dedicated to her viewers who made the serial popular. Ace choreographer Saroj Khan was awarded Star Dance Kala Ratna Award. In her award acceptance speech, the veteran choreographer made an appeal to the parents of small children present to nurture the dancing talent of their kids.
Actress Saloni Aswani who acted along side Salman Khan in Saawan and is presently considered amongst the top actress in South film industry was specially awarded the Star Kala Ratna award for breaking the Bollywood barrier and creating her special space down South. Also awarded at the occasion were famous Radio Jockey Anurag Pandey who is rumoured to be the voice of reality show Bigg Boss, actress Manisha Kelkar, film Vivaah and Surf Excel ad child star Amey Pandya, popular TV series Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma maker Asit Modi and its lead star Dilip Joshi.
Other field dignitaries to be honoured with awards were India’s first and also most famous female table maestro Anuradha Pal, 2 and a half year old Guinness Award winning tabla whiz kid Triptaraj Pandya, leading builder Sukhraj Nahar and Mumbai Congress chief and former minister Kripashankar Singh’s wife Malti Singh for her spiritual programmes. Kripashankar Singh was present at the event and so also BJP MLA Raj K. Purohit.
The awards event’s which brought together unique performers were the all female orchestra by Devyani’s Bollywood Stars Orchestra Group which came in for a lot of praise by all present. -Sampurn
